Windstream Is Absolutely Terrible

I pay for a pathetic 12Mbps down and 1Mbps up because that is the best they claim they can do I my area. I'd be lucky if I got anything near that. About 4-5 is usually the best I can get during a reasonable time that is not past midnight. During peak times 800 Kbps down seems to the best their *** tier network can sputter out to my house. The latency is horrible with 200ms ping on a good day. If you play games online this will cause terrible lag. They are the only provider in my area and know they can get away with it. I can't wait until I get to move just to get away from this terrible service. 1/10 would never recommend.

DSL High Speed Internet with Windstream is a joke

Due to where we live in rural NE Georgia (Jackson County) we are almost forced to use Windstream for both in-house telephone and internet. We have no gripes about the phone service, but the DSL High Speed Internet provided to us by Windstream is a total joke. It takes (what seems to be) forever for websites to open up, for links to open up, for photos and data to download. I have subscriptions to both Netflix and Hulu, and the streaming is an absolute JOKE! The video streams for about 5-10 seconds (max), then stops to rebuffer. We have had Windstream FOREVER, as this is the only phone and internet service we can get in the little community where I live. We have been paying FOREVER for high speed internet, but what we have received from Windstream is far, far, far from high speed. There have been countless complaints here in Jackson County about the poor quality and speed of Windstream internet. I feel that we should be REIMBURSED for the money paid to Windstream for these many years, as we have NOT GOTTEN WHAT WE ARE PAYING FOR. Or otherwise, they should FIX AND UPGRADE their so-called DSL High Speed Internet. Thank you.

Need I say more? Windstream is god awful. I am paying for the highest they offer (12mbps) and I am lucky to get more that 1mbps. It's a scam company that doesn't care about its customers ad has no motivation to change their service. "High speed internet" ???? What a joke. I pray every night that a new internet provider will move to my area so I can switch over. As an avid gamer, a stable connection matters a lot to me. My in game ping (if I'm lucky) is around 250 ms... however as of late, my Ping ms has never gone below 4000. I've called multiple times and all they do is make up excuses such as "Oh well um, I'll just go ahead and move you to a new channel" (by the way this never works) or they proceed to tell me that "the amount of devices I am running may cause interruptions." What a load of horse ***. I guess in big companies they all have to shut down every single device to use 1 computer too right Windstream?? They were supposed to call me back within 24 hours, it has been 48 hours. I can't wait for this company to go bankrupt.

They probably won't go bankrupt because they buy up garbage phone companies in small backwoods towns and then milk the revenue out of them and never fix or upgrade anything. Then when they are circling the drain they sell them off to some other predatory company that continues the downward spiral until the whole infrastructure croaks from deterioration.

I was paying Non-Stream $75.00/month for phone and "high speed internet" (3Mbps d/l, 640Kbps u/l). I NEVER saw 3Mbps, NEVER. In fact it would drop every night to about 300Kbps d/l or less and I would have to reboot my modem 3 and 4 times per night to force it onto another server to get about 2.4Mbps back. Nothing Non-Stream "tech support" did ever helped.

I got rid of Non-Stream and went with the cable company here.

I bundled. 60Mbps d/l, 5Mbps u/l, clearer phone. more TV channels, same price I was paying the cable company and Non-Stream before.

Will I be with them forever?

Who knows?

But until there is a better alternative I am happy. I certainly won't be doing any business with Non-Stream any time soon.

I continuously have issues with my net being out. Much worse than this my parents are both very sick and elderly. They live in rural KY. Where there aren't cell towers to get service. For at least 2 months there phone will work one day and be out again. I have called and complained to everyone I know to and cannot get issue resolve. They MUST have phone service and I don't know what else to do! I have started documenting each call. I'm 35 minutes away from them and time is of the essence that this gets resolved! Any suggestions

Horrible Internet Quality

The connection would often be disconnected. There is a terrible high latency. The latency is what makes this bad. Just using it to browse the inter webs makes it difficult. I am a gamer and when i play online i like to enjoy just a decent amount of latency and it is fine but the high amounts of it is just unbearable. It makes playing with friends hard. Overall I would put this internet in the same boat as Comcast in internet quality wise. The modem that was given was old and not new.

I have been with out a few of my upgraded channels that I am paying for. To be specific... TCM, Hallmark & Western channel just to name a few. I called in last night (Monday) 12/7/2015, after I rebooted myself and it didn't work. SO... They lady said it will be taken care of no later then 7:00pm Wednesday, December 9th. ARE YOU SERIOUS???? I was told IT Dept has to run tests! This is BS!!! I am not a happy camper... My son works for Time Warner and he gets called out right then even if after hours to fix problems. Windstream get your *** together.

Poor Technical Service and Customer Service

Our DVR malfunctioned and I had a ticket entered for a technician to come out and repair or replace. This was handled very promptly and DVR was replaced. One problem the DVR they replaced it with will not record. I have made numerous calls for service, was told ticket was issued and I would receive a call. NO CALL. Called again rep said there was a ticket and was transferred to a technician who stated diagnostics could be run on their end and it would correct issue. NO IT DID NOT. Now when I turn on my TV a error is across the TV and I have to exit to clear it off. Called again and transferred to several dept. NO RESULTS. Called and asked for supervisor and after lengthy explanation was told I would be transferred to someone who handled DVR's. Frustration is maxed , I went to local Windstream store to have DVR service disconnected and the representative was very uninterested in my situation. Told me they had customer people who where not properly trained and that I might as well stay with Windstream none of the other services in our area was any better! Excuse me I pay over 175 a month for that! No Thank You. In the process of having this entire service removed from my house as soon as possible... Good riddance to poor service, CUSTOMER and Technical at Windstream. Shopping for a service who will appreciate me as a customer.

We have had all sorts of problems with Windstream including that one time when they disconnected our entire business account. Ahh the good old days. Today, I have been on the phone with them for over 2.5 hours trying to get an 800# that has an off hours forward removed. Here is how you do call forwarding from Verizon Wireless - From your mobile phone, dial *72 plus the phone number you want to forward calls to. While I understand that it clearly isn't that easy at Windstream, it seems like 48 hours to complete is a little excessive. That and the fact they they can't give me a clear update is frustrating.

Poor Internet with WindStream! Call the Public Service Commision!

We live in just outside of Jesup, GA in Madray, Springs and have the same horrible service. Our internet speed is barely usable, that is when it is up and working. Windstream has installed new fiber optic lines less than five miles from our home, but will not install it on our loop or tie us in. There is a fire station, several churches, and small businesses on our road. There are also plenty of students, teachers, and workers who depend on the internet. My husband's job requires that he have a working internet. With my health, which is very poor, it is vital that I be able to access the Mayo Clinic, IDF, BCBS, and my physicians in the event of emergencies. With our poor internet service, that has become an impossibility. Due to the issues that we have been having, my husband to the initiative to notify the Public Service Commission and file a formal complaint. They advised us to encourage others to do the same. The more complaints with the PSC, the better the chances that they will be forced to correct the issues and reimburse the people of the charges that have been passed on to the customer for services that have been unacceptable and substandard to what they have promised.

Since Windstream took over Cavtel, I have had nothing but problems. On Friday, Oct.

23 at 4:31PM, while I was talking to a client, my phone went dead. This is the second time in about 3 months this has happened and the second time this month I have had problems with no service (Internet/DSL). The last time my phone service went dead it took 5 days to fix it. Five Days!

I called customer service to report it. No-one could tell me when my phone service would be restored. I called again Sunday, same thing. I have had no communications from you via my email which I gave them.

I went to Windstream Online this morning (Monday, Oct 26) and there is a message that it's not available at this time. SMDH I work from home. This is getting on my last nerve. Windstream service and customer service is terrible!

I had Cavtel for about 10 years with few problems. When I had a problem with Cavtel phone service it was fixed within 24 hours. Not Windstream. WHEN IS MY PHONE SERVICE GOING TO BE RESTORED?

I will be looking for another phone service because I can't go through this every other month.

I am also a journalist and will be writing about Windstream's terrible service. My next step is to contact the president of this terrible company.

I found Tony Thomas' email and phone number and contacted his secretary. They have until 4:30 to restore my service or as I promised them, I will be contacting the FCC and the State Attorney General's office.

Service AND customer service issues

Complaint #1: We have CONSTANT service (phone and internet) interruption for which Windstream refuses to acknowledge due to the fact that our salesmen do not 20+ minutes to sit on hold simply for a customer service representative to answer the phone! Our phone lines and internet were down sporadically throughout the day yesterday no less than 7 times! Complaint #2: Today I called to report that our toll-free number has not been working for days because one of our customers finally gave up and used our regular phone line. This gentleman tried all day yesterday and again this morning. Windstream representative actually had the NERVE to imply that since I didn't have exact times that the customer tried to call us that they would do nothing to assist us. I went ballistic and demanded that they fix our toll-free phone line. Complaint #4: Instead of going month-to-month with our service, this company has the audacity to renew the 3 year contract over and over without so much as a letter or a phone call!!! Complaint #5: Customer service representatives have arrogant attitudes regarding service issues and imply that problems are not their fault, but yours. Complaint #6: Because our salesmen at our VERY busy location do not have the time to hold to get a trouble ticket, Windstream refuses to acknowledge outage problems. EVEN WHEN THE OUTAGES ARE CITY-WIDE!!! IF YOU WISH TO HAVE HORRIBLE PHONE AND INTERNET SERVICE AND, AT THE SAME TIME, WANT TO LOSE CUSTOMERS IN THE PROCESS, SIGN UP FOR WINDSTREAM SERVICE AS THEY ARE WONDERFUL IF THIS IS YOUR GOAL!!!!!

Sorry award!

I pay for Windstream 3.0Mbps and the highest I've ever recorded is .57Mbps... living in a rural area with Windstream as the only option I'm being robbed every month paying for something I don't get! In addition, the sorry internet speeds are weekday mornings; late afternoons and weekends I don't have internet. My Netflix is useless and my smart television is dumb! So I'm paying for internet I don't get or get poorly and I'm paying for services that don't work because of the poor internet service. If only I could get my hands on some Windstream representative! (I actually like my Windstream service representative who is a regular visitor trying to do what he can with a cheap, antiquated network!

so I've been with Windstream since it was available in my area, which has been 8 years. The first 6 years werent perfect, but it was decent. The last 2 years have been horrendous. From having outages for 3 and 4 weeks at at time, or having my connection drop every 15 seconds. I've been on the phone with the "technicians" they train, to read from a card, might I add, hundreds of hours over the past few years. Windstream is by far the worst possible ISP out there but unfortunately its the only company in my area that provides service, so I have no choice but to go with them. The area that I live in has a 25+ year old substation thats been upgrading their fiber optics for years but they haven't replaced the key parts to ensure that I have a stable connection. I reiterate this to the "technicians" at windstreams customer service but they are very quick to put the blame on my fault equipment without even having proper knowledge of if its mine or theirs. DO NOT go with winstream if you can help it. You'll be in for a world of hurt

I say everyone that has on going issues go to the nearest substations and destroy there *** so it has to be replaced. Windstream acts if there untouchable! I'm ready to go to war over all big companies that lie to make a profit!

Do yourself a favor AVOID WINDSTREAM!!!!

As I write this i have been on hold with Windstream customer service for 44 minutes and 10 seconds. This is not the first time my small business phone line I got through them has crashed and it has been *** getting to customer service not to talk of getting a live person on the phone. I got to work on a Saturday to find my phones DEAD and i spent the next several hours on the phone with Windstream and they promised a Tech will call me but I waited to no avail. Sunday morning came and still nothing was done. I insisted i wanted to talk to a supervisor and 5 customer service reps later i still was not connected to s supervisor!. I will not be renewing my contract and will be looking for ways to cancel it. This Company will NOT survive.

Why do you continue to charge customers for a quality of service you falsely advertise and deliver?

Youtube has verified Windstream as being responsible for video lag.

Websites are replete with customer complaints and dissatisfaction over this issue.

To charge people for a service that is something other than what you advertise, is unethical, and in fact amounts to fraud, and should be investigated as such.

There is little question as to the reason for the poor quality of service to paying customers. Windstream has more customers than it has the capability to provide the quality of service it falsely advertises.

If I do not hear back from you with a satisfactory answer to this question, I will continue to spread awareness of this issue on the web.

I sure do have something to say. Windstream is destroying us.

Our bill jumped up from 114.oo a month to 328.00 a month. And they want tell you why. We need help this is a malious rediclious price for Internet.

They are something bad wrong with Windstream. I'm one mad coustomer.

Those who work and have worked there have horror stories of how they handle things internally. It started as a plan to milk the last dollars out of POTS, but after deciding to expand (meaning buy up smaller companies), it became a hodge-podge of back-end systems few of which work together.

The executives leave it up to the managers and employees to 'make it work' while the plethora of outsourced systems suffer continual breakdowns. Employees are micro-managed down to the second and things are almost always chaotic. Any employee complaint and attempts to inform the executives of the failings of the systems are met with persecution. The executives just committed an 'alleged' criminal act with the holdings.

It cost each employee greatly (like 70% of their Winstream stock value) who didn't ignore the president when he directed them that there was no illegal dealings and that they should hold on to their stock.

The court found Winsteam guilty, but they have appealed. Those who lost money are out-of-luck until someone starts a class action for the investors.

They won't even fix my phone or internet anymore. Its been out over 2 weeks now.

They keep putting me off and changing appointment dates and never showing up. Their service is horrible. They wont fix it l have been complaining off and on because it has got worse and worse but now its an everyday occurrence. How they get by with this is amazing.

They need to be held accountable but it is impossible to get anyone to listen. This company is one big FRAUD.

Have had windstream now for years may as well have satellite internet every time it rains we lose internet. Have had techs out that told us there is a flooded box in town and have complained over and over.

They have mad appointments to come and check our service that I used personal time and vacation time to be here and they never show up, when I called and complained they offer me a 25 dollar rebate that they never give i have asked is that all that my time is worth is 25 dollars I've wasted a day waiting that i could have worked and vacation i could have spent with my family. Unacceptable practices but limited choices in my area i can not stand this company!!!

I am a new windstream customer and never in my life have I had a company do this! I authorized a payment of $155, life happened I could only pay $75 of the bill I paid the $75 with debit card windstream took it upon themselves to go into my savings account to withdraw it.

They continued to charge my savings account for $155, $75 and $30 depleting my savings and putting me in the negative twice. I called them seven times to stop autopay and they told me it wasnt them. They noe have sent me a disconnect notice stating they havent recieved any money. They refuse to admit nor fix the problem they created.

Why are they still operating? Who do I contact to put a stop to thus horrible company?

I agree with you on everything Windstream is the worst telephone provider. False dsl information, terrible support and service, adding fees to the bill that aren't explained in any of the documentation that they provide.

I have a 16 meg and only get 10-15 meg , which they will argue that I cant get 25 meg.

They do not know how DSl works I've been with a telephone company and installed DSL so I know how bonded DSL works they do not put forth the efforts for customer service and improve anything. When you contact DSL help they see all the issues that you are having and will send a tech right out in about a week to repair and the tech says there is no trouble found on the line must be your equipment.

I’m sick of the Internet going out all the time and not getting the speed we pay for. I’m angry that there is fiber optic internet 100 feet away by Blue Ridge Electric and they won’t extend it to the rest of the community so we don’t have a choice.

I’m sick of the cable tv going out every time it rains or just at random for like a whole day. I’m sick of trying to call to report it and being put on hold for 20 mins.
